JOWAI: In a joint FIR, 62 agents of Matribhumi Networking India Ltd. — a network finance company operating at Ladrymbai in Jaintia Hills — lodged a police complaint against the company for duping customers to the tune of several crore rupees.
The Ladrymbai branch was set up four years ago. The company operates three other branches at Ladrymbai Datsimpein, Mookyrdup and Amlarem.
According to the FIR lodged with Ladrymbai Police, the agents alleged that the said Company had suddenly disappeared with an amount in excess of Rs 1.5 crore collected by the 62 agents from the people of the district.
Police also said that the total amount would be much higher since only around 25 per cent of the collection agents had only lodged their complaints.
Meanwhile, the president of All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organization (AJYWO) informed that the company has collected several crores rupees from people residing in Ladrymbai and surrounding areas.
According to MH Dkhar, his organization had in the past attempted twice to meet the officials of the Company but they failed.
“We had also decided to lodge a complaint against the company on Friday,” Dkhar said.
It is learnt that several Jaintia Hills-based NGOs including the Jaintia Students’ Union and the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front would also file complaints in this connection.
