SHILLONG: Meghalaya Tourist Transporter’s Association (MTTA) has come to the defence of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma who is alleged to have kept them waiting for several hours despite being given prior appointment.
‘It is true that we were given an appointment like other organisations and we arrived much ahead of time. The RBYF and Meghalaya Archery Association (MAA) were also waiting,” MTTA general secretary Diganta Nath said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
“It was his meeting with senior government officials which caused the delay. But as the Chief Minister did meet all of us present in the visitors room and hear our problems,” Nath said.
While admitting that the Chief Minister had given an appointment at 1.45 pm, he however informed that they could finally meet Dr Mukul at 6.45 pm. This is after a long wait of five hours.
He further clarified that it was the MTTA and not the local taxi association from Mawprem which had sought the appointment from the Chief Minister.
