‘Final Sports Policy Draft by Nov end’

 Shillong: The Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Sports & Yoith Affairs, Bindo M Lanong said that the final draft of the Meghalaya Youth and Sports Policy will be completed by November 28.

Lanong made this announcement after the State Youth Awardee (SYA) and National Youth Awardee (NYA) under the banner Meghalaya Youth Awardees’ Federation (MYAF) met the Deputy Chief Minister in his office here on Tuesday.

The federation led by its President Pranab Pariat (SYA 2005- 06), Vice-President Empower Warbah (NYA 2008-09) along with the President of All India National Youth Awardees’ Federation (AINYAF) Hitendra Somani submitted a memorandum to the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister on Tuesday demanding the implementation of the Meghalaya Youth and Sports Policy.

Lanong has asked the members to submit their views and opinions on the policy by November 28 adding that this policy will help to tap the local talent of the state.

He also assured the federation that continuous meetings would be held between him and the federation to discuss on issues pertaining to this policy.

Meanwhile, the federation hoped that their demands will not be a waste but will be a stepping stone for the youth of the state to succeed in their endeavors. The youth group said they would forward their views on the policy soon in support of the government’s decision to celebrate 2012 as the Year of the Youth.
