SHILLONG: The State Police have stepped up night patrolling in the city as a preventive measure to thwart any unfortunate incident.

Night patrolling in the city is being stepped up in view of the incident near Shillong College on Monday night where a man was charred to death inside a vehicle.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, AR Mawthoh, said, “We have our teams in place and we are strengthening night patrolling in the city to keep a check on unwanted activities from happening in and around the city.”

Meanwhile, police are yet to make any breakthrough in the case in which a person, identified as Durga Bahadur Biswa, was charred to death inside a vehicle on Monday night.

So far, police have interrogated three people in this connection, but have not been able to get any credible input.

A senior police official on Thursday said that they were awaiting the post mortem report before proceeding with the investigation.

“We are working on various possible angles to help us in solving this case,” the official said.

No arrest has been made so far in this case.
