Baby elephant killed

GOALPARA: A calf was killed during a suspected fight between two adult elephants at Nisinta in this Assam district early on Friday , forest department officials said.

The elephants came out of the nearby forests and went to the fields before the fight, they said. The carcass of the calf was taken by the forest department for post-mortem.

Earlier on Tuesday, another calf fell into a well but was rescued the next day at Santipur in the district, officials said. (PTI)
