PHE Minister inaugurates Sub-Divisional Office

 JOWAI: The State government has sanctioned Rs 200 crore for Khliehriat Sub-Division to end its potable water problem.

This was informed by PHE Minister Shitlang Pale on Friday after inaugurating a new office of the PHE Sub-Divisional Officer at Amlarem on Friday.

War Jaintia MLA Lahkmen Rymbui, JHADC CEM Lamdibok Sumer and the Additional Chief Engineer, PHE Ms. I Huroo besides others were present on the occasion.

Pale said the government sanctioned several schemes for Jaintia Hills district. He sought people’s cooperation foe proper implementation of all the schemes.

The new office in Amlarem will greatly benefit the people of the area.

“Now, people won’t have to go to Jowai to pay their water bills or register any of their grievances”, said Pdeinshakap headman, Portanri Pakyntein.

The JHADC CEM urged the officers and the staff of PHE to see that the office runs smoothly for the welfare of the people of the area.

According to the Additional Chief Engineer, PHE Zone III, the special investigation Sub-division, Amlarem, set up 40 years ago in 1971, had been functioning from Jowai. “I believe the shifting of the special investigation sub-division will help the people of the area”, Ms Huroo said.

Exhibition organised :The State government in collaboration with Women’s groups and the Handicrafts Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited organised a three-day district-level exhibition-cum-sale at Tympang Club playground, here, from Tuesday.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, B. Mawlong attended the inaugural function as the chief guest.

Census: The Chief Executive Officer, Jowai Municipal Board has informed that in pursuance with the Government of India’s Directive, the district administration will conduct the Socio Economic Census from November 15 to December 31.

Handloom and Weaving centre: The Handloom & Weaving Centre at Good Shepherd Secondary School, Ladrymbai was inaugurated on Tuesday by T Dkhar, DC, Jaintia Hills.
