Cough syrup destined to B’desh seized

Shillong: BSF and Customs sleuths have confiscated 49,900 bottles of Recodex worth Rs 30 lakh from a Tripura-bound truck at Sonapur bridge in Meghalaya, an official said on Sunday.

The confiscated cough syrup was intended to be smuggled to Bangladesh via Tripura border, the official said.

BSF Spokesman Ravi Gandhi said that based on specific information the BSF and Customs sleuths conducted a joint operation and intercepted a a truck bearing an Assam registration number AS-01-5975 loaded with the banned cough syrup at Sonapur bridge in Jaintia Hills district.

Two persons Md Suleman Ali and Md Saluudin were arrested. (UNI)
