Mumbai: An unwell Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday skipped the team’s practice session ahead of tomorrow’s third and final Test against the West Indies, but is expected to play in the inconsequential match.

“He told the physiotherapist (South African Evan Speechly) that he is unwell and that’s the reason he did not come for the practice,” senior team-mate VVS Laxman told reporters at the mandatory match-eve media conference at the Wankhede Stadium here.

“Please ask the physio,” replied Laxman when queried whether Dhoni would play in the final match of the three-Test rubber in which the hosts have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.

However, team sources told PTI that Dhoni did not need medical attention for his illness and should be able to play tomorrow.

“He was asked whether a doctor has to be summoned but said there was no need. His wife (Sakshi) is here. He should be playing tomorrow,” the sources said.

Incidentally, the Indian squad does not have a second regular wicketkeeper though there’s Rahul Dravid who has kept wickets in the past in ODIs. (PTI)
