Guwahati: A young boy, abducted by suspected Arunachalee miscreants from bordering Gohpur in Assam, was on Wednesday night rescued from a jungle in Arunachal Pradesh by a joint team of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh police.

Reports on Thursday said that the boy, Pallab, was kidnapped from his residence at Gohpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Tuesday evening.

The targeted family was that of a local smuggler and criminal Kokil Gogoi, but wrong address led to the kidnapping of Pallab.

When the abductors realised the mistake, they left Pallab in a jungle in Arunachal, from where was rescued on Wednesday.

Pallab was rescued in stable health and no signs of injury or torture were found on him.

Police said that the incident was a fallout of rivalry between two criminal gangs, one led by Kokil Gogoi and another of Arunachal Pradesh. (UNI)
