Speaking to The Shillong Times on Thursday, PSG Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary, PWD, said, “We have targeted to complete the project by monsoon even though we are facing lots of difficulties in working there.”
According to Lyngdoh, the area is thronged by a large number of people throughout the day which makes it difficult to work. Besides, workers are finding it to tough to work at night in the cold weather.
The projects which include beautification of Khyndailad and its adjoining areas, besides widening of roads in certain stretches of the city is being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 16.73 crore.
Presently the PWD is carrying out the ground work for the project after which they will take up the work for putting cobbled footpaths and inter-locking tiles.
Initially the State Government will first beautify the first 57 metres from the Khyndailad junction till the end of MUDA shopping complex and then the beautification work would further proceed to the entire stretch till Umsohsun and Sadar police station.
