Varsity holds lifestyle fest to attract students

 Shillong: The newly-opened university — University of Technology and Management (UTM) — has taken several steps to attract students.

With this in mind, the university on Friday organized a Lifestyle Fest @UTM (LFU) which comprised of rock and fashion show.

The festival was inaugurated by Forest Minister Prestone Tynsong in the presence of parliamentary secretary P W Khongjee.

The inauguration of the fest also marked the initiation of enrollment to UTM programmes for the academic year of 2012.

Inaugurating the fest, Tynsong appreciated the initiatives of UTM in organizing such an event for the youth and rendering career guidance to them.

The day-long LFU – Lifestyle Fest @ UTM rocked the youth with the best fest ever for the season. The entire campus was upbeat and pulsating with vigor and thrill during the celebration. The highlights of the fest included career talks by distinguished & senior persons from the industry in the first half, followed by a glittering fashion show orchestrated by Arif Mukhim and rock band performance by Colors.

Distinguished speakers include Thomas Lim, Editor The Meghalaya Times, R. Hari from IBM (India), Banlum Blah, CEO Clara Tours.
