Exhibition of handicrafts to provide exposure to artisans of NE

 SHILLONG: The North Eastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (A Government of India Enterprise) under the Ministry of DoNER is organizing a 10- day special exhibition of exquisite crafts and textiles of the Northeastern Region at All Saints Cathedral Campus, Shillong from December1-12. The exhibition is organized for the promotion of the craftsperson and weavers of the northeastern region.

The objective of this exhibition is to promote sales of handicrafts, to increase awareness in favor of handicrafts and handlooms and to provide the needed exposure to artisans of the northeastern region. The prominent handicrafts products in the region include cane and bamboo, gift items, souvenir, traditional jewellery and household products, artistic textiles made of Eri, Muga and Mulberry Silk, famous green bamboo basketry products from Meghalaya, leather, brass items, pure silk, muga material and many more new products.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India, Ministry of Textiles and is co-sponsored by the Ministry of DONER, Government of India.
