90-yr-old charred to death

 SHILLONG: Ninety-year-old Thop Khongmawloh of Lapalang village near Pynursla in East Khasi Hills district was killed in a fire that razed her house on Sunday morning. Police said that the old woman was sleeping in the house when the fire broke out. “The fire spread throughout the house so rapidly that no one could manage to rescue her,” police said, while adding that the whole house was reduced to ashes. After preliminary investigation police said that the fire started from the kitchen which the victim had forgotten to put out before going to bed.
