Meghalaya Day at Delhi Trade Fair

 New Delhi: The 31st India International Trade Fair — 2011, a fortnight-long programme organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi which began on November 14 concluded on Sunday with the Meghalaya Day celebration.

The programme was attended by State Information & Public Relations Minister, AT Mondal, Dr P Shakil Ahammed, Commissioner & Secretary of Information & Public Relations and various Government officials from different Departments of the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Mondal said that the main objective of organizing the Cultural Programme during the India International Trade Fair is to showcase the rich culture and talent of the different tribes of the State, adding that the Fair is the right platform where people from all walks of life and from across the country converge.

He also called upon the people to visit Meghalaya, one of the most beautiful tourist destinations of the country. Highlights of the programme included Wangala dance, Harvest dance, Sword dance, plate dance, Khasi orchestra and songs performed by cultural troupes from the State.
