SHILLONG: The Shree Rajasthan Vishram Bhavan (SRVB) has expressed serious concern over the formation of a Committee by certain Marwari group with regard to the membership drive and enrollment of members of SRVB.

Secretary, Executive Committee (EC), SRVB KB Ajmera, in a statement issued here said that in its general meeting held on November 20, 2009 the EC was elected for a period of two years based on the voter list prepared by the Election Commissioner appointed by the Gauhati High Court. Informing that the present tenure of the existing committee has already expired on November 20 and the same committee is empowered to conduct the election within the period of three months.

Since the election process has begun and list of membership is already finalized and published hence to go back and initiate the membership drive is contrary to laid provisions of the Constitution of the Bhavan.

“It is quite surprising that the members of so called emergent meeting while ignoring the laid down provisions of the Constitution of Bhavan is unnecessarily building pressure on the present committee to act in a manner not permissible in the constitution and the persons invited in the so called meeting were misled,” said Ajmera in the statement.

The secretary urged the members of the Marwari community not to be misled.
