New Delhi: After directing states to furnish property records of IPS officers, the Union Home Ministry has received details of Immovable Property Returns (IPR) of 152 officers out of the 713 who had not done so.

The MHA had displayed the list of defaulters on its website last month but a faux pas was detected as the list carried names of even those officers who had retired.

The list initially had 864 names and after it was amended, 713 officers were shown as not having submitted their property records.

Thereafter, the Ministry received representations from a number of officers stating that they had submitted their details to concerned state governments who were yet to forward the same.

The MHA then wrote to all state governments asking them to expedite the IPR of the IPS officers failing which the officers would not be considered for any promotions, ministry sources said. They said every IPS officer is required to fill forms attached to their Performance Appraisal Report (PAR) and submit it to the reporting authority.

While submitting their PARs, the IPS officer should submit the property returns for 2011 as on January 1, 2012 to the state government by January 31, 2012.

The revised list still contains names of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Directors General of Police Brij Lal and Abhay Anand, both of whom have failed to submit their IPR for 2010.

Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who has openly revolted against Chief Minister Narendra Kumar Modi, is also among the total sanctioned strength of 3,393 officers.

Bihar still tops the list of defaulting IPS officers as 84 of the sanctioned strength of 156 have not submitted the list, while Andhra Pradesh has an outstanding of only six officers who have failed to provide information out of the sanctioned strength of 185.

Uttar Pradesh, which has a sanctioned strength of 335 IPS officers, accounts for 63 officers who have not submitted their IPRs. (PTI)
