Langsning SC drub Punjab Police by 6-1

 SHILLONG: Meghalaya Police Football Team (MLPFT) on Wednesday entered the last-four stage of the 22nd All India Meghalaya Invitation Football Tournament.

In the quarter-final played at First Division Ground, Polo on Wednesday, policemen defeated Tata Football Academy (TFA) by a solitary goal.

Despite defeat, young players of TFA impressed hundred of football fans who turned up for the match with their skillful ball control and attacking football.

The lone goal of the match was scored by Niwan-O-Gatphoh in the 44th minute.

Earlier in the day, Langsning SC thrashed Punjab Police by 6-1 to make it to quarter-final stage.

The performance of the Punjab Police team, considered to be a good side, was disappointing.

Langsning dominated the match right from the word go. The Shillong Club took lead after its star defender Samuel Kane Arhu scored a stunner in the 21st minute.

Nigerian striker Badru Keke made it 2-0 in the 35th minute. Five minutes later another Nigerian striker Yinka Joel Sunday Ayeni scored the third goal. Young striker Victor Shadap scored in the closing stages of the first half to give his heam a 4-0 lead.

After the break, Langsning continued their dominance. But Punjab team managed a goal in the 68th minute through Amandeep Batra.

Meanwhile, Victor Shadap scored his second goal of the match to give Langsning a 5-0 lead. The home team’s final goal came in the 85th minute.

On Thursday, Shillong Premier League (SPL) champions Royal Wahingdoh would take on SSB, Siliguri at 11.30 am, while Ar-Hima FC would meet Nigeria XI at 2 pm.
