KSU for local SP in West Khasi Hills

 NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Student Union (KSU) West Khasi Hills has issued a 10- day deadline to the Goverment especially the Home Minister H DR Lyngdoh for appointing a local SP in West Khasi Hills.

KSU General Secretary Sanjied Shangrit told The Shillong Times on Sunday that after receiving information that the present SP of West Khasi Hills Dr Raja Marathandan would soon be transferred and the post would be filled up by an IPS o fficer, the Union opposed to this move because of the rise in militancy and crime in the district The Union feels that the language problem between the locals puts them into trouble most of the time.As such the KSU wants the government to appoint a local SP whether a Garo or Khasi from its own state not from outside.

The KSU has threatenedagitation if the governmnet fals to respond to their demand.
