The Deputy Commissioner issued this order while hearing a petition filed by the officials of Rose Valley, a financial company operating in the district, here on Tuesday.
Earlier, Rose Valley officials held a meeting with the leaders of two NGOs — Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) and the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation. Both the NGOs sought valid documents including permission from the district administration.
Later, Rose Valley officials filed a petition before the Deputy Commissioner.
However, the Deputy Commissioner mentioned in the notice issued to Rose Valley that the petition could not be entertained and directed the branch manager of the company to stop their business in the district.
Later speaking to The Shillong Times, Dkhar said “similar notices have been issued to other companies also.”
