SHILLONG:Former Chairman and Managing Director of Central Bank of India S Sridhar on Monday said the entrepreneurs need to be tech savvy, besides being innovative in all their ventures.
Mr Sridhar was addressing the students of the six month Certificate Course on ‘Developing Managerial Skills for Entrepreneurs’ conducted by the Indian Institute of Management-Shillong. He gave gave away certificates to students who successfully underwent their course at Certificate Distribution Ceremony at the Institutes’ auditorium.
Advising hard work and an uncompromising ethical their approach, the Central Bank of India Chief appreciated the efforts of IIM Shillong for development of entrepreneurship of this region since entrepreneurial initiatives are lagging behind in comparison to some of the developed states of the Country.
The course is one of its kind organized by any IIM for the youth population, in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
The main purpose of organising the course was to develop the various types of management skills among the existing and future entrepreneurs of the region so that they can contribute to the overall development of the North Eastern Region keeping in line with the NER-Vision document 2020.
The course had drawn participation from almost all North Eastern States. The curriculum of the course included field work and field visits and also live interaction with many leading Entrepreneurs from the North East, over and above the regular Interactions with the Faculty members of Institute.
Congratulating the successful candidates, IIM Shillong Director Professor Ashoke K Dutta stressed that to become a good entrepreneur one should first be a good human being.
He also urged the participants to remain steadfast in their commitment to make a difference to the region, and carrying out the message to others as ambassadors of the institute.
