Cameron hit by lawsuit again

London: Acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron has reportedly been hit by a $2.5 billion lawsuit alleging that he stole the idea for his 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar.

Contactmusic.com reports that Avatar screenwriter Bryant Moore claims that Cameron made the film on his scripts for two projects called Aquatica and Descendants: The Pollination.

He also feels that there are too many plot similarities between his ideas and Cameron’s movie.

Moore is also taking action against Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment and executives at movie studio 20th Century Fox and is demanding the huge sum of money for damages.

Avatar raked in $2.78 billion worldwide and become the highest-grossing film of all time.

This is the second time that Cameron is facing such a lawsuit – earlier this month Eric Ryder had filed copyright infringement papers against him, alleging he had approached Lightstorm bosses with an idea for an “environmentally themed 3D epic” in 1999 – a decade before Avatar was released. (IANS)
