Separate bandhs hit normal life in Assam

GUWAHATI: Separate bandhs called by different organisations hit normal life in most parts of Assam on Friday.

Most parts of upper Assam remained closed in view of a 12-hour bandh called by the Moran students union, demanding Scheduled Tribe status for the Moran community.

Normal life was affected in several upper Assam districts, including Dibrugarh and Tinsukia, during the bandh. Business establishments remained closed and few vehicles were seen on the roads.

A separate 12-hour bandh called by the All Koch-Rajbonshi Students Union hit life in lower Assam. The AKRSU bandh had been called in demand of ST status for Koch-Rajbonshi community and separate Kamatapur state carved out of Assam and West Bengal. Shops and other organisations remained closed in most parts of lower Assam. Vehicles also remained off roads. (UNI)
