National Youth Day celebration

SHILLONG: The National Youth Day, that is, birthday of Swami Vivekananda will be celebrated at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre (RKMVCC), Quinton Road on January 11-12.

Meghalaya Governor, RS Mooshahary will inaugurate the 150th birthday celebration cum National Youth Day as Chief Guest on January 12 at RKMVCC at 10:30am. IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner & District Planning Officer, East Khasi HillsAbhishek Bhagatia will be the Guest of Honour and Swami Sumanasananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Cherrapunjee will preside as a Speaker in the function.

Hundreds of youths and public from different sections of the society will participate in the function. The post launch session would include cultural programmes aimed at national integration. It may be mentioned that the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh has already inaugurated the 150th Birth Annivessary Celebration of Swami Vivekananda which will continue till 2014.

On January 11 around 150 dedicated youth volunteers are going to meet the Governor of Meghalaya at 11am at Governor’s House to mark the auspicious beginning of the celebration of National Youth Day in consonance with the rest of India. They would start with a colourful procession from RKMVCC at 10am. The youth will interact with the Governor for one and half hour following which the procession will return to RKMVCC.
