Militants torch truck in Manipur

Imphal: Unidentified militants set afire a loaded truck in Manipur’s Senapati district on Sunday for not paying ‘tax’ to the outfit, official reports said. Armed militants stopped the truck, coming from Dimapur in Nagaland, at Senapati district headquarters and wanted to check papers of the vehicle. When they found that the vehicle had not paid ‘tax’ to the militant outfit, they set it alight, the sources said adding that the driver and his helper were set free. No individual or group has claimed responsibility. (PTI)

2 girls stabbed by Assam youth

Ramanathapuram, (TN): In a shocking act, an Assamese youth stabbed two girls in a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus in full public view at Sayalkudi bus stand this evening, killing one girl and critically injuring another. Police said three girls, namely Kavitha (21), Shanthi (22) and Sofia (21) all hailing from Ramanathapuram District, were working in a fish processing company at Tuticorin, where the youth Motish (26), hailing from Assam, was also working. Body of girl found

Tezpur: The body of a girl, suspected to have been killed by her boyfriend, was today recovered by police from an area in Sonitpur district on Sunday. Raju Ghatowar, who surrendered to police, had said that Puja Bhuyan had visited his house and had an altercation near Kathalguri tea estate on Saturday night.(PTI)
