SHILLONG: Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh and General Administration Department (GAD) Minister AL Hek are currently in Manipur as election observers of the Congress party.

Both Lyngdoh and Hek have been appointed by the AICC as election observers for the Manipur Assembly election scheduled on January 28.

When contacted, Lyngdoh said that they have been assigned by the AICC to oversee the election process in Manipur.

“We have so far held meetings in five Assembly constituencies. After our interaction with the general public and party workers, we are confident that the party would win the election with a thumping majority,” Lyngdoh said while speaking over the telephone from Imphal on Wednesday.

The State Home Minister also informed that they had a meeting with Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi Singh and AICC general secretary in charge of Manipur, Luzinho Falerio, on Tuesday.

Lyngdoh also informed that they would release the party manifesto on Thursday.

Apart from Hek and Lyngdoh, the other Congress leaders who are currently in Manipur include M Rapsang and LS Singh.
