Chitrangada
Gitanjali Dance Academy, a city based cultural organization, will present Rabindranath Tagore’s “Chitrangada” – dance drama choreographed by Monica Chanda at Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati on January 21. The Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), New Delhi along with SNA North-East Centre, Guwahati and Sattriya Kendra, Guwahati is organizing “Natyanjali” – a festival of music, dance and drama in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of the Nobel Laureate. The festival will be inaugurated by eminent folklorist Padmashree and Tagore Akademi Ratna Birendranath Datta on January 20 at 5pm. The six-day festival will showcase Rabindra Sangeet, Dance Dramas – “Bidai Abhishap”, “Bisarjan”, “Angangba Kabirei” (Manipuri), “Chandalika”, “Rather Rashi” and “Abhisaar” of the Bard of Bengal.
M’laya Day
The Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills district, Jowai, has informed that the district administration will be organising various programmes for celebrating the Meghalaya Day on January 21 at 1pm in MTC stand, Iawmusiang, Jowai. There will also be Free Eye Camp in Orchid Resort, Thadlaskein at 10am.
Career guidance
The NSS unit of SOS Children’s Village Shillong organised a two-day career guidance programme on January 14 and 15. The Resource Person’s for the Programme were from the Beaconville Training Academy, Madan Laban. A total of 23 NSS Volunteers participated in the programme. The two-day’s activities included games and one-to-one sessions for career guidance.
Accident
A Maruti Alto (MLO5G-9593) on its way to Shillong hit another vehicle coming from the opposite direction at Ryndangbriew on January 18. The 108 Ambulance service (ESA) admitted Wosbecoming Lawrniang and Daniel Mihsil to Shillong Civil Hospital. In another case, Mala Devi (25/female) sustained injuries when she was hit by a Maruti car while walking on the side of the road at 4th Furlong on January 18.
