Bhubaneswar: Eleven days after being suspended for his apathy in the Pipili gangrape case, the then in-charge of the police station concerned was today dismissed from service. Amulya Champatiray, who had been placed under suspension following the Pipili rape incident, has been dismissed from service, DGP Manmohan Praharaj said. Champatiray’s dismissal came a few hours after the Odisha government transferred Puri Superintendent of Police A N Sinha from the district and posted him as Commandant of elite anti-naxal force SOG. The government had on January 13 suspended Champatiray, the then in-charge of Pipili Police Station, after it was found that the officer concerned did not register the case a day after the alleged rape of the dalit girl. Before being suspended, Champatiray had been transferred from Pipili police station to Puri Police Reserve. (PTI)
