UDP may finalise candidates by March-end

SHILLONG: The UDP is expected to finalise candidates for 2013 Assembly election by March-end.

Informing this here on Tuesday, the UDP president Dr Donkupar Roy told The Shillong Times that several party units had forwarded a few names for some constituencies.

“We have only one aspirant for the party tickets in all most all the constituencies,” Dr Roy said.

While informing that the party is facing problem only in newly created Mawthadraishan constituency where more than one aspirant sought the party ticket, the UDP president said the party’s State Election Committee (SEC) would take the final call in this regard.

In Garo Hills, he said the party might field candidates in eight constituencies.
