KOHIMA: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee(NPCC) has slammed the Naga Peoples Front(NPF) led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) Government for failing to organise Republic Day functions in four district headquarters.

”It should be taken as a black day in the history of Nagaland,” a statement issued by the party on Thursday night said.

Celebrations could not be held in Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng because of an indefinite bandh called by the Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) to protest non fulfillment of its 5-point charter of demands.

The NPCC said ‘neither was the function attended to in time nor did the government make any attempt to ensure observance of the Day by enforcing the rule of law”.

It blamed the consequence on the “sheer callousness of the DAN Government, which once again failed” in its constitutional duty.

”Further, the failure of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Ministers and Parliamentary Secretary to hoist the national flag proved the absence of the popular government and a complete constitutional breakdown in the state,” the statement said. (UNI)
