GNLA’s self-styled ‘sergeant major’ and commander of southern range, Rakkam

Marak informed the media that the GNLA militants chased away the mother of the surrendered cadre asking her to stay in the police quarters in Goeragre, West Garo Hills after burning down the house. However, the Sonaram was not present in the house when the incident took place.

Marak informed that the GNLA had asked the surrendered militants to pay for all the arms they had surrendered to the police.

“We have also sent letters to them one week back asking them to pay for the weapons they have taken away before they surrendered to the police,” Marak said.

When contacted, a senior police official said that police was exploring ways and means to rebuild the razed house.

“We are committed to help the surrendered militants and let us see in what way we can render our support,” the official said.
