AGARTALA: Even as over fourteen months to go for the next Assembly elections, the CPM in Tripura on Wednesday unveiled its roadmap for the coming battle of ballots.
In the four-day long CPM state conference which concluded here on Wednesday reconstituted two strategic committees- state committee, state secretariat after having brain storming sessions.
Though there was no major change in the two committees, four new faces included in the CPM state panel while one new face incorporated in the ‘powerful’ state secretariat.
Speaking on the concluding session, Chief Minister Manik Sarker laid down emphasis on all-out efforts to retain the power for the seven time.
“The 2013 Assembly election will be a tough challenge for the CPM in view of the changed political scenario. Though Congress in Tripura was upbeat after CPM defeat in West Bengal and Kerala, they are now scared over the fate of UPA government at the centre aftermath of people’s anger over scams. Party leaders and workers must work hard to ensure the victory of the CPM led Left Front in the state to send a right message to the nation,” he said.
Admitting that the 13th Finance Commission’s award has pushed the state toward severe fund constraint, Sarkar said, “ The state has already completed interview for filling up 16000 vacant posts in different government departments. But it was the financial constraint that came on the way of issuing letters of appointment”.
CPM spokesman Gautam Das said that a resolution seeking formation of seventh Left Front government in the state was passed unanimously in the fourth day of the CPM state conference.
It may be noted that 508 CPM delegates across the state joined the state conference of whom 440 are male and 68 are female.
Though the party has been trying to banking the young generation, only 23 delegates aged 26-35 joined the conference. Of the total delegates, only 51 have post-graduate degree while 135 have graduation and 139 have managed to pass Madhayamik examination.
