Shillong: In an effort to involve and engage different stakeholders in Budget preparation and to expose them to the exercise of funds allocation for different sectors the Government of Meghalaya will conduct a pre-Budget exercise on February 14 at Tura and February 17 at Shillong.

This was informed by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma here on Friday.

Speaking to The Shillong Times, Dr Sangma said as many stakeholders would be invited to take part in this first of its kind exercise.

“Since IIM Shillong and North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) are located here we would like to draw on their expertise in Budget making. We will also call upon ICAR and other institutions including the District Councils, academicians NGOs and civil society activist,” Dr Sangma said.

This unique exercise would allow participation of all stakeholders so that their suggestions on investments strategies, tourism, industries and other key sectors of the economy and areas of development could be integrated into the annual budget, Dr Sangma said.
