RANGIA:The decomposed body of a young woman with her face made unrecognisable with acid was recovered from Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district on Saturday.

The body of the woman, about 20 years old, was found by local people at Nakhali in a paddy filed on the Kamrup (R), Baksa and Nalbari districts border, official sources said.

The woman was dressed in blue jeans, a black shirt and a red sweater, and her hands were tied together and the face made unrecognisible due to acid burn, the sources said. Suspected to be a case of rape and murder, they said the woman appeared to be from an urban area considering her attire.

The body has been sent for autopsy and investigations are on. (PTI)
