BSF personnel detained

AGARTALA (TRIPURA): A Border Security Force personnel was detained by CISF men at the airport here for carrying live cartridges without valid papers, police said on Sunday. Nanda Singh was going to his home in Rajasthan by a private airline when he was detained by CISF personnel on Saturday following following recovery of some live cartridges from his hand baggage. The CISF personnel handed over Singh to the state police. He was later produced before a local court which released him on bail. (PTI)

Bus accident claims 6

KOHIMA: At least six people, including three NPF supporters, were killed while several others injured when the bus, they were travelling in, fell into a deep gorge between Makhen Khullen and Tabio, some 8 km from Tadubi, in Senapati district of Manipur on Saturday evening. Source said three people including two women passengers and the driver of the bus, died on the spot while several other were injured when the bus went off the road at a steep curve, about a km away from NH-29. All the 22 passengers injured were rushed to Assam Rifles hospital at Maram, from where they were all shifted to Naga Hospital Kohima later. (UNI)

Two killed in mishap

GUWAHATI: Two persons were killed and more than 50 injured in two separate road mishaps in Assam on Sunday, police said. Two motorcycle-borne youths collided with a pick-up van at Lahorighat in Morigaon district and were killed on the spot on Sunday evening. In another mishap, a bus carrying pilgrims collided with a truck in Sonapur area of Kamrup (Metro) district injuring 50 people and the condition of 10 was stated to be critical. The bus was on its way from Lower Assam’s Barpeta district to Parasuramkunda in Arunachal Pradesh. (PTI)
