ITANAGAR: Dr Moter Jini Gamlin, wife of Arunachal Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin, died at a private hospital in Guwahati, official sources said.
She died on Sunday evening at the age of 44 and is survived by husband, daughter and son.
Born on April 17, 1968 to social reformer Dagmo and Tongam of Jini village in West Siang district, she was state’s AISSCE topper among girls in 1986 from Aalo government HS School.
She completed MBBS from Lady Harding’s College in New Delhi in 1995.
Dr Jini Gamlin had been unwell and went on coma since December 2008 and undergone extensive treatment in Delhi and later at Guwahati.
Her mortal remains were brought from Guwahati and would be laid to rest at Aalo, her native place, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen (Retd) J J Singh and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki expressed shock and grief at the death of Dr Moter Jini Gamlin.
The Governor conveyed sympathy to Gamlin and the bereaved family members in a condolence message.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in a message also expressed his heartfelt condolences at her death.
In his condolence message to former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin, Tuki wrote, “I am aware, how painful it is for you to be deprived of the love and affection of a wife and the futility of these words of condolences.”
“May Almighty God give enough strength and courage to your family members to bear this irreparable loss,” the message said.
Galo Welfare Society has also mourned the demise of Late Dr Jini Gamlin. (PTI)
