Shillong: Meghalaya Police has arrested two persons from two different locations for their involvement in burglary and similar other crimes.

The arrested persons are identified as Kitboklang Mawlong and T Bishu Debbarman.

Mawlong was arrested from Bhoirymbong in Ri-Bhoi district last Friday, police said adding that he was involved in stealing of laptops and cell phones from various parts of the city including Jhalupara, Laitumkhrah and Mawprem.

Mawlong was arrested in 2009 and 2011 for similar crimes. Three mobile phones and four laptops were seized from his possession.

In connection with a separate case, police arrested Debbarman from a hotel in Khyndai Lad last month.

“Debbarman targets mobile shops and he was involved in the recent theft cases at Fairy Shop in Bara Bazaar and Rapsody Mobile Store,” a senior police official said.

“Debbarman sells the stolen cell phones in Assam, Manipur and Jaintia Hills district,” the police official said adding that he would send the items by bus while he himself travels by flight.

Several mobile phones and flight tickets were seized from him.
