S R Sen sworn in as Addl Judge of Gauhati HC

Guwahati: Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court A K Goel on Monday administered the oath of office to Sudip Ranjan Sen as an Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court in a solemn function held on the High Court premises.

Born on March 9, 1957, at Shillong, Sen did his schooling and college in Shillong. He obtained LLB degree from Shillong Law College.

He joined the Bar in Mach 28, 1989. He was the Assistant Public Prosecutor and Additional Government Pleader of Meghalaya from 1997 to July 7, 2007. He passed Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service Examination in 2000 and joined as Additional District and Sessions Judge on July 10, 2000.

He became District and Sessions Judge in January, 2002 with special power to try cases under NDPS, PC Act, WAQF Tribunal, Land Acquisition. He was made Selection Grade District and Sessions Judge in 2005 and awarded Super Time Scale in April, 2011.

Sen has served as a Registrar (Administration) of Gauhati High Court since December 1, 2010 till he was sworn in as an Additional Judge on Monday.
