Shillong: Admitting that the power scenario in the State was far from satisfactory, the State Government on Wednesday said that it was trying its best to cope with the power shortage in the State.

The State Power department on Wednesday convened a four-hour review meeting to take stock of the overall power scenario in Meghalaya.

Power Minister AT Mondal, after the meeting, said, “The power scenario is not that good but we are looking at different measures to cope with the situation.”

Admitting that students were having a hard time due to the ongoing load shedding in the night hours, he said that the department was keeping the load shedding to the minimum and that too only from midnight till early morning.

The meeting also took special note of the power scenario in Garo Hills and Jaintia Hills, besides discussing on the new proposed transmission lines and upgradation of transformers in some areas.
