Police highhandedness

 SHILLONG: Some passengers of a tourist taxi on Wednesday alleged highhandedness by Umsning police station personnel when they were roughed up and spoken to badly by a constable of the police station at around 2.30 pm .

The passenger Saurav Biswas, an engineering student was traveling to Guwahati with his mother when suddenly their vehicle AS-01AC-4475 had a collision with an auto rickshaw (ML-10A-4441) which suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. Meanwhile, a private vehicle (ML-05H-5689) which was behind insisted on moving ahead despite the accident forcing the traffic police to take all three vehicles to the police station .

In the police station the constable threatened to lock up Biswas and behaved in the most rude manner .Soon the matter was sorted out with the police keeping the vehicle papers and allowing the vehicles to proceed ahead.

When contacted, Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police Claudia Lyngwa apologized for the incident and assured action against the said personnel.
