Reformation in examination system

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG: In a significant decision, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), Tura has decided to do away with the age-old system of awarding of divisions in the SSLC examinations.

The MBOSE, which held a Board meeting on February 15, also decided to continue with the present system of best 3 out of 4 subjects with English and Indian language/Additional English being the compulsory subjects. The total marks obtained by a student would be calculated out of a total of 600 marks and the percentage obtained by the student would be displayed on the mark sheets.

In another significant move, the Board has decided to abolish the Top-Ten Scheduled Tribe merit list and introduce a General merit list of the Top 20 students from this year.

Also, any candidate who fails in any one of the subjects other than the compulsory subjects will be declared passed but his/her percentage would not be indicated in the mark sheet.
