2 GNLA ultras killed in Assam

 Guwahati: Two suspected militants belonging to outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were killed in a wee-hour encounter on Monday under Lakhipur Police Station in Goalpara district in Assam. Police informed that acting on a tip-off, a mobile police team was on waiting for the two ultras who were coming on a motor-cycle. When signaled to stop by the police party, the militants opened fire and tried to flee. They were killed in retaliatory fire by the police. Two pistols were recovered from their possession. The militants were yet to be identified.
