Shillong: The ANVC has asked the State Government to make known its decision creation of a Garoland Autonomous Council within a week failing which they will take up the Greater Garoland issue with the government.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, ANVC spokesperson Torik Jangning Marak said that ANVC stands united for a common cause of the Garos of Garo Hills, Khasi Hills and Assam to be under one administrative setup.

“The State Government has been unnecessarily delaying its decision on creation of the Garoland Autonomous Council,” Marak said.

“In seven-and-half years of ceasefire we have faced tremendous hardships and most of our cadres have been facing difficulties with practically no support from anywhere, yet we stood together hoping for a peaceful and acceptable solution to our demand which has not made any progress despite the reminders from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs,” the ANVC spokesperson stated.
