Payment of arrears to employees

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has sought a one-time assistance of Rs 5 crore from the State Government for payment of the remaining arrears of its employees.

“Chief Executive Member Pyngshngain N Syiem has requested Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma to provide the Council with this one-time assistance of Rs 5 crore and the State Government has sought for the details on the payment of the arrears to our employees” Executive Member in charge Finance, Antonio War, said while replying to the question raised by HSPDP Mawkyrwat MDC Enbin K Raswai during the Question Hour on the second day of the KHADC Budget session on Wednesday.

Stating that the Council has so far paid a total amount of Rs 8.9 crore as arrears to its employees, War informed that the Council would require an additional Rs 5.64 crore to pay the remaining arrears to its employees.

“The Council would be able to clear the remaining arrears once it receives the assistance from the Government,” War added.
