Itanagar: Union DONER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar has reiterated the Centre’s assurance to provide all necessary assistance to make Arunachal Pradesh a progressive state at par with others.

Ghatowar, who attended the Festival of Arunachal at IG Park here on Thursday night said that being a native of the North East he was aware of all the problems of the region, official sources said today.

“Consider me the envoy of the North East at the Centre. I will be the bridge between the region and the central government. I assure to work overtime to bring in development to the region,” Ghatowar announced while addressing the festival.

Citing Arunachal as a special state due to its strategic importance and vast natural resources, the DoNER Minister said the Centre, especially Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, is giving due attention to the issues of the state.

“Singh has specially directed me to attend to your state. Therefore, be assured that special packages and funds will never cease to flow in,” he said.

Ghatowar appreciated Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for his energy shown in the first few months of his reign and expressed optimism for more rapid progress. (PTI)
