TURA: In a cruel and chilling murder suspected militants of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) barged into the house of a retired police constable and shot him dead on Sunday morning accusing him of a being a police informer.
A group of heavily-armed militants numbering between six to ten entered Bansam Awe village, across the Simsang river near Samanda and dragged out retired police constable Warnath S Sangma before opening fire on him at close range killing him on the spot. He was 55 years old.
The deceased constable had taken voluntary retirement from service during his posting in Baghmara many months ago but that did not satisfy the GNLA militants who went ahead with the cold-blooded killing in front of his family at 6:30 am on Sunday.
The militants accused him of being a police informer before killing him despite his strong denials.
