SHILLONG: With an aim to strengthen the relationship between the people and the district administration , the Arted Self Help Group in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Shillong organized a Community Interaction Programme at Lummawbah Community Hall here on Saturday.

The interaction which was attended by Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, Sanjay Goyal saw the active participation of the residents of Lummawbah who apprised the DC of numerous problems faced by the people.

They also put forth several requests to the DC which includecreation of a full-fledged police station at Upper Shillong area from Lummawbah till 7th Mile citing that till date, the area is under the jurisdiction of Jhalupara Out Post, extension of the road along the stretch to ease traffic problems, immediate solution to the encroachment of land by the forces, to improve the Public Distribution System, besides others. Speaking on the occasion, Goyal expressed his aspiration to develop a better relationship between the people and the district administration to bring about major development in the district and the state as a whole.

“It is not the duty of the people to come to me with their problems, but it is my duty to go to the field and experience the problems faced by the people”, Goyal stated.
