Milk price hiked by Rs 5

SHILLONG: The Milkmen Association, Shillong has hiked the price of milk by Rs 5. Following the hike a litre of milk will now cost Rs 33.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Milkmen Association stated that they were hiking the price of milk from March 1 due to the increased price of cattle feeds and essential commodities.

However, Deputy Commissioner (Supply) Sanjay Goyal, when contacted, said that the Association cannot arbitrarily hike the price of milk without informing his office first.

“I will call the Association and ask them on what basis they have hiked the milk price,” Goyal said.
