Deadline for road improvement

SHILLONG: A Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising six NGOs from Mawphalang and Balat has issued a three-month deadline to the State PWD to widen and improve the road in the area.

The JAC comprising of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP), Sawsymper circle, FKJGP

Mawphalang circle, Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Sawsymper circle, KSU Tyrsad circle, Sawsymper Sumo Association and Tyrsad Sumo Association also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Engineer of the Public Work Department (PWD).

“The Mawphalang-Balat road is a life line for the people as it connects two districts of the State. The road also connects areas which are rich in mineral resources, forest resources and agricultural products,” the memorandum said.
