Karimganj (Assam): Journalists demanded prompt action and arrest of miscreants responsible for allegedly beating up a scribe earlier this week.

The journalists called on district Superintendent of Police Diganta Bora here and demanded immediate action against those responsible for beating up Sibir Ahmed Barbhuiya, the Bhangapar correspondent of a local daily who was allegedly beaten up by local goons on Tuesday last.

The miscreants had even locked him inside a room when he went to Sonapur area for collecting news and had to be rescued by a police team.

Barbhuiya was later admitted to the Silchar Medical College. (PTI)
