SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC would be hoping to get off to a winning start when they take on Goa outfit Vasco SC in their first match of the Second Division I-League final round at Siliguri, West Bengal on Thursday.
The Shillong side would go into the match without its star defender Kareem A Nurrain who is facing a one-match suspension after being shown two yellow cards in a previous match.
RWFC coach Carlton Chapman, however, said that the spirit in the camp was very high on the eve of their campaign opener.
“The boys are hoping to play their best football against a formidable Goa side. We would try to give our best for the match,” Chapman said over phone from Siliguri.
Replying to a query, he said that the boys were acclimatizing to the weather condition in Siliguri very well.
The coach also said that except for Kareem, Wahingdoh would field their full strength in Thursday’s match.
Chapman also declined to comment on the condition of the ground, saying that he did not want to complain about the ground condition as all the teams would be playing in the same ground.
On his expectation, he said, “Definitely, I would want the team to start on a winning note since it would help to build the confidence of the team”.
It may be mentioned that RWFC is the only team from Shillong in the final round of the 2nd Division I-League after both Ar-Hima FC and Langsning FC was relegated in the preliminary round.
